The Moorings announces opening of new Moorings Village

The Moorings yesterday announced the celebration of its 40th anniversary and the Grand opening of its new Moorings Village at its base at Wickhams Cay 11.

The Moorings which has grown into a global brand as the world's premier yacht company, managing approximately 800 yachts in 28 destinations of the world's best cruising grounds, was founded here in the BVI in 1969.

The company that was started by Charlie and Ginny Cary began operation with six 35-foot Pearson Yachts and a dream of providing the best sailing vacations in the world.

The new Moorings Village has been designed to continue this tradition of excellence by providing a 5 star quality facility which will undoubtly become the new global standard for charter bases.

This multi-million dollar village includes new hotel suites, an open air plaza, a gift shop and coffee bar, a spa, new reception area and Charlie's, a new waterfront restaurant and bar.

The new Village is also designed to be the most environmentally friendly facility of its kind in the Caribbean with cutting edge technology that assist in flushing the entire inner harbour area, thereby improving the water quality in the area coupled with a laundry operation that recycles water with speacial treatment system.

Speakers at today's opening ceremony include Premier and Tourism Minister Hon. Ralph O'Neal, Managing Director - Activity Sector John Wimbletom, Regional Director of Operations Clarence Malone and Governor His Excellency David Pearey.
